Encontrar el propósito eterno de Dios

It was October of 1980. I was a freshman at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, California. Although I had been in Catholic schools for the previous seven years, I had almost no knowledge of the Bible or the gospel. Deep within, I was seeking some sort of meaning, some purpose for human existence. My search had led me to study books on philosophy and psychology, but within that realm I could find no satisfactory answer.

One day on the campus I met a believer who met with the local churches. I asked him what the purpose of the human life is, and much to my surprise, he was able to give me more than a shallow response. He pulled out his notebook and drew diagrams of the New Jerusalem, the holy city described at the end of the book of Revelation. He explained to me how the purpose of the human life is to be born of God and to express God, and how, ultimately, all of the believers in Christ will express God corporately as the New Jerusalem, which will be the wife of Christ for all eternity.

Through the speaking of this Christian and other Christians on the campus, I came to know, experience, and enjoy the Lord Jesus. I was truly born again. These Christian brothers helped me to establish a prayer life, build up a habit of reading the Bible, and to love the Lord. Within a few months I began to meet with the local church, and I was baptized. I discovered that these believers had received tremendous help from the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, and I too began to enjoy this ministry. Ever since then, this ministry has consistently led me deeper into Christ, who is unsearchably rich, and has opened the Word of God to me in the most balanced, pure, helpful, and accurate way possible, always with a view to God's eternal purpose. For eternity I will always be grateful to the Christian brothers and sisters in the local churches and the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee.
